Twisted dark and wrong, but what do you expect from a Palahniuk-based story? There is also an odd shadow of The Grifters over this film for me, but that is probably just the Angelica as a lousy mom with another screwed-up young son dynamic. Choke, however, has a sort of sweet heart that The Grifters absolutely lacks, although in a rather Catcher in the Rye sort of way. If you’re not easily offended, love really dark humor, and know what you’re getting into, it is definitely a film worth seeing.
